Fiberglass Filter Bags

Fiberglass filter bags are high-temperature resistant industrial dust collector filter bags manufactured from woven fiberglass yarns. They are widely used in cement plants, steel plants, power generation facilities, waste incineration plants, carbon black production, ferroalloy industries, and non-ferrous metal processing applications where high-temperature flue gas filtration is required.

Compared with conventional synthetic filter media, fiberglass offers excellent dimensional stability and superior heat resistance, making it suitable for continuous operation under severe thermal conditions.

Key Benefits: Exceptional temperature resistance up to 260°C continuous operation, excellent dimensional stability, high filtration efficiency, and long service life in high-temperature industrial environments.

Microscopic Filtration Mechanism

Surface Filtration

Fine dust particles are captured on the surface of the filter media. When laminated with PTFE membrane, a microporous barrier blocks dust while allowing air to pass through.

Deep Filtration

Dust particles penetrate into the fiber structure and are captured through inertial collision, interception, diffusion, and gravity settling.

Dust Cake Formation

A stable dust layer gradually forms on the filter surface and becomes the primary filtration layer, significantly improving collection efficiency.

Advantages of Fiberglass Filter Bags

Excellent High Temperature Resistance

Suitable for cement kiln exhaust, clinker coolers, steel furnace exhaust systems, and high-temperature boilers.

Very Low Thermal Shrinkage

Provides stable installation, improved sealing, reduced cage friction, and more consistent cleaning performance.

High Filtration Efficiency

Especially when combined with PTFE membrane lamination for ultra-low dust emissions.

Good Acid Gas Resistance

Performs well in sulfur-containing acidic gas environments under dry operating conditions.

Long Service Life

Can achieve extended service life when temperature, moisture, and cleaning systems are properly controlled.

Limitations & Operating Considerations

Important Limitations

  • Poor flexibility compared with PPS and Aramid filter media
  • Susceptible to fiber breakage and mechanical fatigue
  • Weak resistance to abrasive dust conditions
  • Sensitive to moisture and condensation
  • Poor alkali resistance in high-temperature environments
  • Requires careful transportation and installation

Common After-Treatment Processes

PTFE Membrane Lamination

Reduces emissions, enables surface filtration, improves dust release, and lowers cleaning frequency.

PTFE Dipping Treatment

Improves chemical resistance, surface smoothness, and fiber wear resistance.

Graphite Treatment

Improves lubricity, flex resistance, and reduces fiber damage during pulse cleaning.

Silicone Treatment

Enhances water repellency, flexibility, and surface protection.

Acid Resistant Chemical Treatment

Improves resistance against sulfuric acid and acidic flue gas attack in cement kilns, coal-fired boilers, and waste incineration systems.

Recommended Applications:
Fiberglass filter bags are ideal for high-temperature industrial filtration systems where dimensional stability and heat resistance are critical. For applications involving heavy abrasion, severe moisture, or highly alkaline environments, alternative filter media such as PPS, Aramid, or PTFE should be evaluated.
